Northumberland is a fantastic place to visit for a holiday. With so much to see and do, you'll have plenty to keep you occupied. Beach View and Island View are situated in Spittal, just two miles from Berwick-upon-Tweed, and have stunning views of the surrounding area.

Berwick has always been a very important Borders town throughout history. It has changed hands between the Scots and the English, and was a prized possession of Queen Elizabeth the first, who built immense fortified walls around the town. These impressive fortifications and canons are still in an incredible state of preservation today.

Bamburgh Castle The coast of Northumberland is a World Heritage site, with spectacular golden sandy beaches, castles, and islands.

Bamburgh Castle, a short distance from Berwick, was once the seat of the Northumbrian kings.

The holy island of Lindisfarne, is the birthplace of Christianity in England, and it was there that St Bede founded his abbey.

The island is reached by a mile long tidal causeway, and has a most impressive castle, which can be seen for many miles around as it stands on a rocky bluff high above the sea.

The castle was once owned and remodelled by Edwin Lutyens, and has a walled vegetable garden by Gertrude Jekyll.
Lindisfarne

Alnwick Castle and The River Alnwick Castle is the famous location of the Harry Potter films, and is the setting for the stunning Alnwick Castle Gardens, with its beautiful fountain and record-breaking tree house.
The Tweed is famous for its trout and salmon fishing, and there is also sea angling to be enjoyed off the coast.

Boats can be hired locally for fishing trips, or you could enjoy a boat trip to the Farne Islands for bird and seal watching.

Holyrood palace Golf is always popular, and you will find that there are a great many courses around Northumberland and the Scottish borders.

Edinburgh is an hour's drive away to the north of Berwick, and offers fantastic entertainment, and the chance to see Holyrood House, Edinburgh Castle, and the Royal Yacht Britannia.

Berwick offers a host of shopping, and entertainment possibilities, with lots of good restaurants, bars, and a nightclub. Try something new, such as horse riding along the beach, quad biking, scuba diving, golf, fly fishing, sea angling, sailing, cycling, rambling, clay pigeon shooting, hiking, painting, pottery, or just relaxing on the golden sand.
